The Rouse Cup 2027

TWO TEAMS. ONE CUP.

Team composition is confirmed by the Tournament Director ahead of each tournament and may change every year.

Tournament Red

THE BEARS

Why the name

The Bears represent the roots of The Rouse Cup. The name reflects the Rouse family's deep connection with Warwickshire, the county where Tournament Director and founder Matthew Rouse grew up, and a family association with Warwick that stretches through generations, including both his great-grandfather and grandmother serving as Mayors.

The Bears therefore represent heritage, origins and the history from which the tournament grew. Their colour is Red, representing the founder and providing a deliberate nod to the traditional association drawn between the Rouse name and the French rouge.

The Bears are not represented by an animal or emblem: the name and the colour red are their identity.

THE STAGS

Why the name

The Stags represent friendship, place and the continuation of the Rouse story. The name is rooted in Hertfordshire, where Matthew now lives and, more importantly, where the founding players first came together through touch rugby years before The Rouse Cup existed.

Hertfordshire is also where Daniel Rouse was born and grew up, giving The Stags a connection to the next generation of the family and to the tournament's future as well as its beginning. Their colour is Blue, reflecting Hertfordshire and the place where those friendships were formed.

Like The Bears, there is no stag emblem or mascot: the name and the colour blue are their identity.
